    As Senior Manager, Applied Science you will
    · Lead a team of applied scientists and software developers in the design, development, test, deployment and operation of machine learning models
    · Contribute directly to our growth by hiring smart and motivated scientists and software developers that can apply state of the art machine learning algorithms to deliver innovative features for our customers.
    · Be responsible for ensuring sanity of algorithms, architecture, operational excellence and quality, delivering results on time.
    · Work closely with other teams across Amazon to deliver platform features that require cross-team leadership.
    · Mentor and lead as a manager with a direct handle on the pulse of each employee on your team.
    · Regularly dive into learning algorithms, evaluation metrics, model architecture, code, test plans, project plans, deployments and operations to drive excellence through your organization.
    · Represent your business and operations to senior leaders within Amazon on a weekly basis.

    Basic Qualifications

    · Degree in Computer Science or related field, with specialty in machine learning
    · 10+ years of experience in machine learning or related fields
    · Experience taking a project from scoping requirements through actual launch and SLA-driven operations
    · 5+ years of management experience
    · Demonstrated leadership responsibility for delivery of a technically demanding product, in a team environment
    · Design and architecture knowledge as well as familiarity with object oriented design patterns
    · Experience with C++, Java, or Python

    Preferred Qualifications

    · PhD in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering
    · Android experience
    · Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders
    · Excellent judgment, organizational and problem solving skills
    · Superior design and architecture knowledge
    · Robust project planning/execution skills including estimating, scheduling and executing on committed schedules
    · Deeply technical with a track record of successful delivery as an individual contributor and leader
    · Entrepreneurial spirit combined with strong program and product
    · Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a combined team of Scientists and Engineers
