    In this role, you will have the opportunity to help shape and execute a strategy to build mindshare and broad use of AWS Big Data products within organizations ranging from new start-ups to large enterprise customers. You must possess customer facing skills that enable you to represent AWS well within a customer’s environment and drive discussions with senior personnel regarding incidents, trade-offs, best practices, and risk management. You should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges as you help our customers take advantage of the efficiencies, cost savings and quick innovation available only in the cloud.

    As a Senior Big Data Specialist Technical Account Manager, you will be an escalation technical point of contact for large customers and other Technical Account Managers. Helping to plan, debug, and oversee business critical Big Data applications and migrations. You will get your hands dirty, troubleshooting application, network, database, and architectural challenges using a suite of internal AWS tools as well as your existing knowledge and toolkits. You will work hand-in-hand with senior executives in Solutions Architecture, Business Development, Professional Services and Sales. You will work across customer organizations to ensure customers’ applications are well designed and scale to the needs of the world’s data pipelines. In this role, you will also act as the voice of the customer within AWS to escalate problems and to drive prioritization of business needs.

    Work on critical, highly complex customer problems that may span multiple AWS Big Data services

    Basic Qualifications

    · 7+ years design/implementation/operations/consulting experience of distributed applications
    · 3+ years hands-on systems administration / networking / troubleshooting
    · Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Sciences, Engineering, Maths/Physics or equivalent qualifications.
    · Excellent knowledge of Hadoop architecture, administration and support
    · Proficient in Map-Reduce, Spark, Zookeeper, HBASE, HDFS, Pig, Hive and other frameworks running on top on Hadoop.
    · Expert understanding of ETL principles and how to apply them within Hadoop.
    · Be proficient in at least 2 of the following languages: Java, Scala, Python, Perl, Ruby, C, C#.
    · Good understanding of distributed computing environments.
    · Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    · Customer facing experience / strong customer focus.
    · Strong organizational skills.
    · Self-starter, excited about learning and developing knowledge bases.

    Preferred Qualifications

    The following qualifications will be a plus
    · Networking (DNS, TCP/IP)
    · Databases (MySQL, Oracle, MSSQL)
    · Exposure to Virtualization (VMware, Xen, Hypervisor
    · Prior working experience with AWS - any or all of EC2, S3, EBS, ELB, RDS, Dynamo DB, EMR
    · Exposure to security concepts / best practices
    · Expertise with IPsec, VPN, Load Balancing, Iperf, MTR, Routing Protocols, SSH, Network Monitoring / Troubleshooting tools
    · Experience managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications
    · Chef and CI/CD
