    Professional Services engage in a wide variety of projects for customers and partners, providing collective experience from across the AWS customer base and are obsessed about strong success for the Customer. Our team collaborates across the entire AWS organization to bring access to product and service teams, to get the right solution delivered and drive feature innovation based upon customer needs.

    In this role as a data and analytics consultant, you will love what you do, and instinctively know how to make work fun. You will be dynamic and creative, and willing to take on any challenge and make a big impact. You’ll work directly with Education customers, helping them build solutions to their data challenges, integrate with partner ETL, analytics, and visualization products, as well as work with AWS services and the latest technology stacks to deliver the right solution for the customer. These solutions often cover a cross-section of needs including Business Intelligence, Data Governance, Big Data, Data Lakes, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning.

    We are looking for someone who has:
    • Experience and/or passion in working with Education institutions, organizations and partners, enabling mission readiness and success through designing / building cloud solutions to data problems as well as educating / training customers
    • A strong understanding of large scale data management and analytics computing solutions. The ideal candidate will have past experience working as a consultant with a specialty and past experience in data architecture, data engineering, or data science. You will enjoy keeping your existing technical skills honed and developing new ones, so you can make strong contributions to deep data and analytics architecture discussions. You will regularly take part in deep-dive education and design exercises to create world-class solutions built on AWS.
    • The ability to work with account teams to support partners and customers throughout all levels of their respective organizations in order to help solve their data problems, to include migrations, proof of concepts, architecture review, and optimization
    • A mix of advanced technology and strategic business acumen as well as a demonstrated ability to engage in senior level technology decision maker discussions related to the business value of AWS services and offerings
    • Ability to be mobile and travel for projects

    Basic Qualifications

    • Minimum 5+ years design/implementation/consulting experience architecting large-scale solutions in the areas of data management, data processing, data architecture, and / or data analytics
    • Broad understanding and implementation of database, analytics, and management concepts / technologies in the industry, to include RDBMS systems, NoSQL systems, ETL / ELT tools, BI Reporting, Dashboards, MPP / SMP databases, Big Data, Hadoop, Data Science, Data Security, Data Integration, Data Warehousing, Data Governance, Data Lakes. There is not an expectation to be proficient in all of these, but hands-on implementation experience in at least some of these topics is required.
    • Understanding of AWS and familiarity with the services and how they can help customers
    • Ability to code / script in support of customer requirements such as proof of concepts or implementation work. Recent experience with coding / scripting is preferred.
    • Working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies
    • Customer facing skills to represent AWS well within the customer’s environment and drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management and risk mitigation
    • High level of skill communicating effectively across internal and external organizations
    • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
    • Working knowledge of government contracting procedures, standards and specifications

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 7+ years design/implementation/consulting experience architecting large-scale solutions in the areas of data management, data processing, data architecture, and / or data analytics.
    • Deep understanding and implementation of database, analytics, and management concepts / technologies in the industry, to include RDBMS systems, NoSQL systems, ETL / ELT tools, BI Reporting, Dashboards, MPP / SMP databases, Big Data, Hadoop, Data Science, Data Security, Data Integration, Data Warehousing, Data Governance, Data Lakes
    • Track record of implementing AWS data services such as EMR, RDS, Redshift, Athena, Kinesis, DynamoDB towards data solutions on the cloud
    • Deep implementation experience using OLAP databases such as Redshift, Teradata, Netezza, Vertica
    • Deep implementation experience using RDBMS systems in complex environments.
    • Experience with Hadoop distributions such as Cloudera and Hortonworks.
    • Experience tuning and patching open source applications such as Spark, Hadoop, Presto to meet customer requirements
    • Experience implementing data solutions in enterprise Linux or Windows environments, including use of LDAP and/or Kerberos
    • Proficient and recent experience in coding/scripting in support of customer requirements such as proof of concepts or implementation work.
    • Deep knowledge of software development tools and methodologies
    • Familiarity with compliance & security standards across the Public Sector IT landscape including included HIPAA and NIST SP 800-171
    • Practical project delivery experience in higher education institutions, K-12, digital content publishers and/or education technology companies
