Job Description

Alexa is Amazon's digital assistant, it's a cloud service that powers devices like Echo, Dot and Spot.
Our team provides data and analytics across Alexa to help improve question answering, smart home device control, music control, and other experiences. We're seeking a seasoned Business Intelligence Engineer to deliver unique insights into the quality of the Alexa customer experience, and innovate over our analytics approaches.
This role will collaborate with teams across Alexa to understand their analytics needs and to go beyond them, generalizing approaches to have the maximum benefit. This person will apply creativity to solve problems and change the way we look at Alexa data. This person thrives on analytics, technical challenges, and seeing the impact of their work on customers.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Optimize and scale existing reporting and data pipelines; coordinate with and influence related partner efforts.
  • Act as subject matter expert for BI data and tools; proactively support the Alexa community and partner team processes with relevant data.
  • Apply technical expertise, be it through leadership or hands-on work, to unblock and accelerate achievement of the data and tools roadmap.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with a technical discipline
  • 7+ years professional experience
  • 3+ years of years of relevant work experience in analytics, data engineering, business intelligence, market research or related field
  • Expertise in SQL, ETL and databases in a business environment using datasets
  • Expertise using data and metrics in projects to drive decisions, prioritization, design, and actions
  • Experience communicating with customers regarding project requirements and competing prioritizations
  • Experience coordinating product development cycles and software development schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in computer science, business, mathematics, statistics, economics, computational linguistics or related field
  • Broad technical breadth and depth including familiarity with natural language processing and database infrastructure
  • Both technically deep and business savvy enough to interface with all levels and disciplines within the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects across functional teams, including engineering, IT, product management, marketing, finance, and operations
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where continuous innovation is desired
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage trade-offs and evaluate opportunistic new ideas with internal and external partners
  • Passion for creating innovative solutions for consumers in households
  • History of teamwork and willingness to roll up your sleeves to get the job done
  • Experience in consumer-facing industry
