    At Amazon Web Services (AWS), we're hiring next generation software development Technical Leaders to work with our top-tier global customers and their partners in transforming their enterprise software development landscapes.

    As part of our Professional Services team, you will engage with enterprise clients to understand their business drivers and application development needs.

    You will lead customer, partner and AWS teams to architect, develop and deploy commercial grade full-stack web and mobile applications on AWS.

    As a Senior Software Engineer you’ll be expected to:
    · Serve as a technical lead on our most demanding, cross-functional customer projects.
    · Ensure the quality of architecture and design of systems.
    · Contribute intellectual property through patent generation.
    · Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.
    · Fully and completely understand system inter-dependencies and limitations.
    · Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices.
    · Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals and the Amazon developer community on advanced technical issues and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members
    · Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience.

    The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader, builder and operator. You’ll have experience leading or contributing to multiple simultaneous product development efforts and/or technology initiatives. You’ll be able to balance technical leadership and savvy with strong business judgment to make the right decisions about technology choices. You’ll strive for simplicity, and demonstrate significant creativity and high judgment.

    Basic Qualifications

    • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
    • 10+ years of Software Development experience
    • Proven track record of leading the delivery of large-scale, high-quality, commercial grade systems.
    • Deep hands-on technical expertise in at least one major technical area: building complex distributed systems, building management tools for large-scale environments, building low latency highly scalable website applications
    • Hands on programing skills in any of the following: Python, Java, Node.js, Ruby, .NET or Scala
    • Hands on programming skills in front end development: UX/UI, HTML, CSS
    • Experience managing complex projects, with significant business impact.
    • Experience leading development life cycle process and best practices.
    • Experience with Agile Management (SCRUM, RUP, XP), OO Modeling, working on internet, UNIX, and database related projects.
    • Experience mentoring/training an engineering community on complex technical issues.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Customer facing consulting experience
    • Ability to travel to client locations as needed (25-50%)

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field (Masters / PhD)
    • Experience working in a complex, service oriented software development
    • Excellent grasp of computer science fundamentals - algorithms and data structures
    • Experience communicating with business owners, sometimes across many time zones
    • Able to learn large scale, complex systems quickly
