    As a Technical Writer at AWS, you will have the exciting opportunity to work with directly with subject matter experts to produce internal and customer-facing product documentation in a cross-functional, distributed environment.

    The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills and a technical background that enables her or him to interact effectively with Solutions Architects (SA), Product Managers, and Technical Program Managers. In addition, the ideal candidate has a demonstrated ability to start with the customer and work backwards, collaborate with subject matter experts and peers, and quickly grasp new technical concepts with enthusiasm.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Deliver high-quality product documentation for the AWS Solutions Architecture organization that helps customers understand and use the product
    • Help improve processes for how content is created, delivered, and maintained
    • Proactively improve your level of knowledge about AWS products, services, and customers
    • Work closely with the subject matter experts, advocating for product and documentation innovation on behalf of the customer
    • Own documentation projects from start to finish, working with limited supervision

    Basic Qualifications

    • A minimum of five years in a technical writing role, producing both internal and public-facing content on highly technical subject matter
    • Fundamental knowledge of information technology, networking, or software development
    • Comfortable working knowledge of XML authoring tools and repository management
    • Experience working directly with engineers and other technical subject matter experts\
    • Demonstrated ability to develop expertise in the products and services that you document by using them as a customer would
    • Degree in English, Journalism, or a related field, with proven, advanced skills in grammar, and technical editing and writing
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

    Preferred Qualifications

    • A minimum of five years in a technical writing role supporting software developers or cloud architects
    • Experience with command-line interfaces, software architecture, or infrastructure solutions
    • Degree in Computer Science or a related field
    • Familiarity with the AWS products and services
