Job Description

Are you interested driving business decisions through data that will impact Kindle customers around the world? Do you find working on complex data challenges to be genuinely exciting?

The Kindle Content team is looking for a strong Business Analyst with proven analytical ability and broad technical skills to help grow the business worldwide. This person will be responsible not only for crunching data but also improving the backend and reporting infrastructure and developing the analytical framework used to measure the business.

We are a fast-paced team that encourages end-to-end ownership and innovation. The ideal candidate works effectively in a cross-functional environment and is comfortable communicating with both technical and business stakeholders. This person uses data to guide decision-making, has strong business judgement, and can think creatively about new opportunities.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Serve as a key member of the Content Acquisition team in helping to define and deliver strategy around acquisition and growth programs.
  • Execute against aggressive selection, operational, and business metrics.
  • Leverage data analysis to research difficult or ambiguous problems, and communicate recommendations to senior leadership.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience required.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience executing on basic database engineering (designing tables and ETL tasks).
  • Deep interest in learning new tools and a new business.
  • Proven analytical thinking, leadership, problem solving, project management, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of scripting for automation (Python, Perl, or Ruby).
  • Experience working with SAS, R or similar statistical packages.
  • Familiarity with the consumer internet industry in a professional context.
  • Consulting, finance, banking or prior experience in a problem solving or analytical role preferred.
