Amazon's Corporate Data team needs a Technical Program Manager with a strong business focus to support our business vision. Our team is focused on delivering business intelligence solutions to Tax, Finance, HR and other Corporate functions.

This role’s scope includes defining strategy and requirements, and leading cross functional development teams from design through delivery. You will be accountable for driving the entire product life-cycle, from platform product definition through specification, coding, quality assurance and launch to the world. This position involves regular communication with senior management on status, risks and change control. You should be able to explain complex concepts to your non-technical customers in simple terms. Cross-team coordination, project management and executive presentation skills are essential.

You will have a strong working knowledge of SQL/RDBMS technologies and thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
Qualified candidates have experience defining projects, collecting requirements, writing detailed functional and test specifications, coordinating efforts to scope, schedule, and deploy new features sets; as well as analyzing cost/benefit of feature selection and communicating results throughout the organization.
The right person will have at least six years of experience in relevant field, be highly analytical to select and digest the right signals from datasets and metric patterns, and be calm in the face of fast-moving environments. Candidates must understand the customer, with strong product sensibilities to develop new concepts and drive feature prioritization and trade-offs. Candidates must be independent and flexible, with solid communication skills and strong customer focus. The ideal candidate will possess a technical background that enables him/her to interact easily with developers.
As a TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. You will have an ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.

Basic Qualifications



  • 6+ years of Program Management experience in large, cross functional projects
  • Experience managing efforts in data warehouses and/or developing large scale reporting solutions
  • Knowledge of SQL/RDBMS technologies
  • Experience working across multiple technical teams
  • Experience with designing technical solutions
  • Experience in communicating with a wide range of partners
  • Must be able to work independently with limited general supervision.
  • Proven results-oriented person with a focus on delivery
  • Thrive on turning ambiguity into clarity

Preferred Qualifications

  • A strong desire to work in a fast paced dynamic environment.
  • Understanding of Big Data technologies and solutions.
  • Background in financial applications
  • Experience prioritizing competing demands, scoping large efforts and negotiating timelines are necessary skills.
  • A Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or MBA
  • Able to mentor junior TPMs
