Job Description

The Global Business Operations organization at AWS (Amazon Web Services) develops and operates complex systems (includes business intelligence/reporting, compensation,Territory Planning and Customer Relationship Management) that leverages AWS technologies to deploy high-quality solutions into our cloud based architecture.

We are looking for a senior technical leader to manage high-impact software programs that will shape the user experience of Sales, Marketing and Support users to make business critical decisions. This leader will lead a team of technologists to succeed in a fast-paced environment while taking on unique challenges that will have a highly visible impact on our growing business.
As the “Single-Threaded-Owner” aligned to a specific line of business, the candidate will be responsible for leading a systems team that will work very closely with the business teams to: 1) collect business and system requirements, 2) write specifications, 3) manage budgets, 4) establish and drive project plans from design to release, and manage production launches.

You will be a catalyst for effective teamwork, communication, collaboration and commitment across multiple geographically separated groups delivering jointly on highly-visible mission-critical systems. You will contribute to our success with your hands-on project management skills, deep technical expertise, good understanding of business, and excellent leadership skills.

The ideal candidate has outstanding technical and business acumen, a restlessness to answer “why?” questions in order to get to “so what?” conclusions, a proven ability to set clear expectations with key stakeholders. In addition, this leader has excellent analytical abilities, strong technical skills (SQL, BI, CRM), superior written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
-Responsible for the end-to-end technical ownership of large programs including technical architecture, roadmap creation and planning, risk and issue management, trade-offs and execution.
-Effectively partner with customers, technical staff and business leaders and executives in different geographical locations to capture business priorities define and deliver complex capabilities.
-Create, maintain and disseminate project information to stakeholders.
-Ability to make sense of ambiguity, define and plan programs in a fast paced and highly-technical organization, and secure buy in from internal and external stakeholders.
-Continually improve ongoing reporting and analytical processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for secondary datasets

Basic Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience presenting updates to an executive audience and publishing findings in written format. Convey key insights from complex analysis in summarized business terms.
  • Strong hands-on experience with new product introduction processes and project management.
  • Strong people and leadership skills with a proven ability to influence others, reach alignment and obtain commitments from teams with different priorities and constraints in order to successfully achieve program goals.
  • Well-developed business and technical skills. Ability to effectively understand tradeoffs between business and technology while never losing sight of the customer experience.
  • Extensive hands-on experience working across multiple disciplines with a proven track record of being able to learn new technologies and contribute to ideas and initiatives.
  • 3+ years of hands-on software development experience.
  • 5-7 years as a Technical Program Manager managing and delivering large software projects on time and on budget for mission critical systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Finance, Statistics or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in analytics, business analysis or comparable consumer analytics position
  • Experience in designing and implementing custom reporting systems and working with technical teams
  • Proficiency with DB Technologies (Oracle, Redshift), SQL, ETL processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing programs with geographically dispersed teams.
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud computing platforms.
  • MBA or advanced degree is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience prioritizing business needs to develop a complex systems roadmap. Demonstrated experience delivering actionable insights for a growing business
  • Experience managing a project backlog and working cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Professional traits that are not unique to this position, but necessary for Amazon leaders: Invent and Simplify; Customer Obsession; Has relentlessly high standards; Thinks strategically, but stays on top of tactical execution; Thinks big and has convictions;
  • Experience working in a Software Development environment.
  • Proven ability to influence change at all levels within an organization
  • Self-starter with the drive and conviction to do things right the first time.
  • Proficiency Informatica MDM, SalesForce, Financial Force will be a plus.
