Job Description

The AWS Worldwide Public Sector Specialist team works with customers in federal, state, local, education, and non-profit organizations to operationalize the shared responsibility model and employ security best practices. At AWS, we're hiring highly passionate and deeply technical security professionals to work with our Solution Architects on key customer and partner engagements. Our security and compliance specialists deliver architecture guidance, lead proof-of-concept projects, and conduct customer workshops. AWS specialists will collaborate with customers and partners to address security and compliance challenges, implementing and migrating customer solutions and workloads onto AWS. As a security specialist, you will drive cloud adoption through influence, innovation, and education within the public sector.

This role will specialize in all aspects of information security management as well as business and regulatory compliance using cloud web services in large scale computing environments.

Responsibilities include:
· Evangelism – Provide thought leadership to the public sector community around cloud computing, making the case that workloads are more secure in the cloud. Represent AWS as an industry authority, influencing industry.
· Expertise – Collaborate with AWS field sales, solutions architects, training, and support teams to help customers and partners learn and propose secure architectures. Become a trusted advisor, affecting policy and security standards for public sector.
· Innovation – Assess broad trends in the public sector and propose simple solutions that address evolving customer needs.
· Content Creation – Create reusable assets that remove friction and decrease time to value for customers.
· Education - Collaborate with AWS field sales, engineering, training, and support teams to help customers and partners learn and use AWS services in public sector and government-regulated sectors such as financial services, healthcare, and life sciences.
· Insights - Work with AWS engineering, support, and business teams to convey partner and customer feedback as input to AWS technology roadmaps.

Basic Qualifications

  • · Experience working with senior executive leaders
    · Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
    · BS level degree required, computer science, business, math, or equivalent experience
    · Proven experience building security reference architecture for all-in cloud deployments and hybrid scenarios
    · Expert knowledge of FISMA and FedRAMP, including the Risk Management Framework and related standards/guidance
    · Working knowledge of operational security implementation and management
    · Working knowledge of cloud computing technologies and workload transition challenges
    · Understanding of cyber incident response approaches and computer forensics.
    · Implementation experience with enterprise security solutions such as WAF, IPS, Anti-DDOS, and SIEM.
    · Experience advising customers on architectures meeting industry standards (e.g., FedRAMP, PCI DSS, etc.).
    · Deep understanding of enterprise risk management methods and techniques
    · 7+ years’ experience in IT security, compliance and risk management, including privacy, controls, etc.
    · Strong verbal and written communications skills and ability to lead effectively across organizations

Preferred Qualifications


· Participation in or authorship of public standards (e.g., NIST SP 800 Series, RFCs)
· Experience building enterprise security strategy for cloud adoption
· Hands-on technical expertise in Security Architecture, automation, integration, and deployment (DevOps)
· Applicable industry certification (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GSEC, CEH)
Working knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Ruby on Rails, etc), integrating 3rd party monitoring tools, and information security products
