Job Description

Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented construction attorney to be based in Seattle to support Amazon Web Services, a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon Web Services is at the forefront of the "cloud" computing and service industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, browsers and more.

As a Corporate Counsel for AWS Data Center Construction, you will work with Amazon’s data center design and construction teams to support projects around the world. You will structure, draft and negotiate agreements, manage outside counsel, and counsel internal business clients. These transactions range from standard contracts to complex, high value agreements. The candidate will have lead transactional drafting and negotiation responsibilities on deals, and work directly with the various business teams to provide day-to-day advice, resolve issues that arise in existing construction relationships and handle pre-litigation disputes and inquiries. You also will be responsible for developing and implementing process improvements.

Basic Qualifications

· 3-6 years of legal experience as a construction attorney (with at least 2 years at a law)
· Juris Doctor (JD) and membership in good standing in a state bar
· Ability to travel as needed
· Common sense, great judgment, and an excellent sense of humor

Preferred Qualifications

· A mix of construction law firm and in-house construction experience
· Experience in representing owners in front-end design and construction contract negotiations
· Experience with international construction projects
· Ability to demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations
· Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
