Job Description

Amazon is seeking a technologist and team builder who knows how turn complex concepts into reliable products. The ideal candidate will have a passion for and experience in designing, building, and commissioning automated systems inclusive of electronic, mechanical, and software components, with the concentration on software.

The Software Development Manager, Robotics will be responsible for:
· Hiring and developing an engineering and applied science team
· Developing and executing technology roadmaps
· Setting and meeting milestones
· Establishing development practices
· Defining, documenting, and evangelizing system-wide architectures
· Working with external teams to determine requirements
· Developing machine learning, vision, and active sensor algorithms for multiple architectures
· Benchmarking and validating algorithms

Basic Qualifications

· BS or MS Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
· Minimum 10 years developing applications for integrated physical systems
· Minimum 5 years coding C++ or equivalent for physical systems
· Expert in at least one area of robotics: sensing, actuation, coordination, control
· Demonstrated ability to develop and lead teams
· Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and techniques for working with big data

Preferred Qualifications

· Robot Operating System (ROS)
· Linux distribution management, kernel and driver experience
· Familiar with systems engineering practices
· Experience developing with containers
· Experience developing and deploying on AWS
· Source control, code reviews, and bug tracking systems
· Challenging assignments with aggressive schedules
· Understanding of Open Source licensing and distribution issues
