AWS is hiring a Linux DevOps/Support Engineer for the Intelligence Community’s commercial cloud services!

We are seeking talented Support Engineers to help us implement our services and to improve customer experience across the globe. We build systems that process metering and bills on an unprecedented scale, with accuracy, speed, and mission-critical availability.


You will:

  • Implement and maintain multi-tier distributed software applications
  • Participate in planning, implementation, and rolling out system changes that meet requirements for functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, and adherence to development goals and principles
  • Test and roll out major features, as well as work jointly with other team members to deliver complex changes
  • Collaborate in a fast paced environment with multiple teams in a large organization (software development, QA, Project/Release Management, Build and Release, etc.)
  • Provide deployment and operations support for large multi-tiered distributed software applications
  • Roll-out system changes that meet requirements for functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, and adherence to development goals and principles.
  • Collaborate in a fast paced environment with multiple teams in a dynamic entrepreneurial organization.
  • Improve customer experience by providing greater visibility on their bills and manage their cost more efficiently.

  • Demonstrate that you can be a solid Linux sys admin, with experience in rolling out application changes to multiple systems in a production environment

Basic Qualifications

This position requires that applicant selected be a U.S. citizen and obtain and maintain a TS/SCI US Government clearance with polygraph. TS/SCI eligibility is not required to start; however, the applicant selected will be subject to a Single-Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified national security information. Applicants with a current SSBI, SBPR, or PPR, may be eligible for crossover in accordance with ICPG 704.4.

  • 3 years minimum Systems Administration experience in Linux/Unix environments
  • 3 years minimum experience in deployment of applications implementing multi-tiered systems and services
  • 1 year minimum experience with at least one shell scripting language (Bash preferred) or a scripting language (Ruby, Python, Bash, or Perl)
  • Must be willing to work on a team whose on-call supports 24x7 operations outside of normal business hours, with ability to drive into workplace for critical events/needs.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills



Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent experience with maintaining, managing and troubleshooting production databases (i.e., Oracle, MYSQL, Postgres, etc.) including SQL scripting, indexing, etc.
  • Recent experience with automation, database interactions, and support of production applications
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and perform root cause identification.
  • Proven ability to understand large distributed systems, drilling down to code level (Java, C++)
  • Understanding of web services, workflow modeling, web application development
  • Experience in a 24/7 production environment
  • Experience with an agile development methodology employing SCRUM (sprints, backlog workoff, sprint tools, etc)
  • Recent experience in validation, and/or testing of multi-tiered systems and services
  • Internet and operating system security fundamentals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (or 5 years equivalent experience)
  • Strong customer focus, ownership, urgency and drive
  • Ability to retain composure under stressful conditions, communicate effectively with a wide array of individuals at Amazon, and get the right things done.
