The AWS Startup Marketing team is looking for an experienced events manager to lead onsite operations, events, and programs at the AWS Loft in San Francisco.

The AWS Loft Manager is a driven events leader with exceptional time management skills, and has strong judgement to prioritize and deliver results for multiple stakeholders. This person directly manages all onsite events, staff, facilities, and programs at the AWS Loft in San Francisco. This is a unique opportunity to own the customer experience at AWS’ most visible physical presence in the city.


Responsibilities include:
  • Create an amazing onsite customer experience.
  • Own the day-to-day operations of the San Francisco AWS Loft, including staffing, vendor management, budgets, and registration and check-in systems.
  • Manage the events calendar, vet inbound requests, and schedule events. Plan and execute events, coordinating with stakeholders that include AWS customers, partners, and internal teams.
  • Develop a playbook for executing events at the SF AWS Loft that can be used by onsite staff and internal teams.
  • Deliver reporting on key metrics for events and site performance to ensure goals are met, and deliver recommendations for improvement.
  • Use outbound channels to promote the SF AWS Loft, including updates on the SF AWS Loft website, sending monthly promotional emails, and using social media to drive community engagement.
  • Serve as an AWS Community Manager in San Francisco, and find opportunities to collaborate and partner with community leaders to build new programs for startups and entrepreneurs at the SF Loft.

Basic Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, technology, or relevant field of study.
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience in a customer-facing role in high-volume events management or facilities operations.
  • 2-4 years of experience of directly managing a team.
  • Experience measuring, interpreting and reporting results for events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience managing a high-volume of events, averaging 200+ attendees per event, and with multiple tracks.
  • Responsibility for managing operations or a high-volume of events at a single location.
  • Interest in or background working in high-tech and/or with startups.
  • Demand gen skills using digital marketing vehicles (social, email, etc.), and community outreach.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and proactively to solve problems.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with experience gaining consensus and securing deliverables from individuals inside and outside of the organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
