Job Description

Amazon is looking for a results-oriented individual to join the AWS Infrastructure Energy Team. Team. In this role, you will negotiate and execute power supply contracts across Amazons global data centers in an effort to create a diverse, low-cost energy portfolio. The candidate will need to be able to identify key market conditions, regulations, and market structures to help evaluate potential savings opportunities. The optimal candidate will have a results orientated approach, analytical skill set, and strong financial acumen
Function Specific Work Activities:
  • Support the development and execution of a comprehensive energy and utilities strategy for AWS data centers
  • Execute electrical supply contracts that reduce cost, minimize risk and leverage opportunities that benefit Amazon
  • Work collaboratively with Amazon Infrastructure team to support the development of strategic energy sourcing opportunities
  • Analyze trends and regulations in the energy space to proactively identify opportunities that benefit Amazon
  • Develop strategies to capture movement in energy markets to identify cost savings opportunities for new and existing data center sites
  • Manage energy projects against plans and objectives to ensure commitments are met, delivering against cost savings goals
  • Be a passionate self-starter

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) required- Economics/Engineering/Business
  • 5+ years of experience working in utility/energy industry
  • Support the development and execution of a comprehensive energy procurement strategy by leveraging energy markets, and portfolio management theory
  • Work collaboratively with Amazon Infrastructure team to support the development of strategic energy sourcing opportunities
  • Manage energy projects against plans and objectives to ensure commitments are met, delivering against cost savings goals
  • Be a passionate self-starter

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree (MBA/MS) preferred
  • Experience in energy markets and trading
  • Understanding of energy markets and policies
  • Power transaction experience in international markets outside of the United States
