The Amazon Device organization designs, produces and markets Kindle e-readers, Fire Tablets, Fire TV Streaming Media Players and Echo Speakers, and is constantly looking to innovate on behalf of customers with new devices in existing or new categories. The Device Analytics team provides decision support to the Device organization across all product lines – established and emerging, worldwide. Even as a team supporting an internal organization, productizing and scaling analytical solutions is crucial to supporting the growth in the device organization.
The Amazon Device Analytics team is looking for an analytical, innovative, hands-on and customer-obsessed Senior Product Manager. This person will be working side-by-side with business line owners to understand their business and identify recurring analytical requests. Then they will partner with our teams of Economists, Researchers and Analysts to establish a prototype solution and validate the need. This person will own the roadmap for the product, working with Economists to evolve the science and with our engineering team to gradually automate components of the solution to enable scaling.
An example of such analytical solutions is pricing for new devices. In the short term this position will be responsible for conducting pricing analysis, putting together business-oriented recommendations that materially benefit the device business and driving consensus across stakeholder groups. A typical pricing engagement drives >$10m is bottom line improvement. In parallel they will work on a pricing tool that automatically generates pricing recommendations.
This role requires an individual with excellent analytical abilities, outstanding business acumen and exceptional written and oral communication skills. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of different business and pricing models and the underlying analytics, and the ability to assimilate new methodologies and data sources. They will be a self-starter comfortable with a high level of ambiguity and having strong attention to detail.
They will be working closely with economists, consumer researchers, finance analysts and marketing teams, in an exciting, fast-paced, and challenging environment. They will be responsible for presenting product roadmaps and results of individual analyses to the most senior levels of the organization
· Work with product line business teams, economists and researchers to identify opportunities for new analytics products
· Take prototype solutions developed by technical teams and establish a standard process and deliverable
· Establish and own roadmaps for several analytical products and ensure development is adequately prioritized by economist, researcher and engineering teams
· Conduct analysis and provide recommendations to support specific decisions as a stop-gap to completely automating particular solutions
· Help define tools that make repeatable work faster and more efficient
