Amazon Networking is looking for senior software engineers to build a platform to improve the safety, security and velocity of network changes. Our goal is to eliminate human intervention and errors from network engineering, network build and device management by building tools and systems to successfully manage thousands of heterogeneous devices in dozens of data centers across the world.

  • Be part of the team that shapes the automation future in Network Operations
  • Work closely with our Network Engineering teams to ensure fast, smooth roll-out of new designs and products.
  • Understand and contribute to software standards across the network and ensure that we are fully compliant to those standards and policies.
  • Identify and troubleshoot recurring platform issues. Effective escalation to mid- and senior-level engineering teams for full resolution
  • Create and review documentation and process regarding recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, knowledge transfer material, etc.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Drive designs, taking into account the operational aspect where they will be deployed.
  • Design and recommend optimizations of new and existing software architectures
  • Mentor junior engineers, including involvement in the formulation of a structured training plan
  • Participate in designs as a leader or reviewer
  • Participation in interviewing

Basic Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and as part of a cross-functional team with the ability to influence others as a senior technical contributor.
  • Ability to mentor junior software developers in best practice with demonstrated capability to maintain architectural vision and software quality during the implementation cycle.
  • Knowledge of and previous development experience in a Linux or UNIX environment
  • 5+ years of industry experience in core product development, building production quality software.
  • A solid grounding in Computer Science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms and deftness at object-oriented design and systems architecture: a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science (or equivalent experience in industry) is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Python
  • Certified Scrum Master Certification
  • Masters degree in computer science or related discipline
  • Familiarity with networking protocols (OSPF, BGP, HSRP/GLBP, IPSEC/VPNs, DNS, HTTP).
  • Familiarity with SOA design principles including service orchestration and RESTful Interface definitions.
  • Operating systems experience
