Amazon’s Global IT Corporate Infrastructure team is looking for a Technical Program Manager to facilitate successful delivery of complex technical projects focused on new and existing infrastructure. This role will provide field level project management and administrative functions to ensure projects are being executed within budget, and on schedule. The Technical Program Manager will be the key point of contact for managing the full project life-cycle from start-up and be a key interface to the customer and the Program Management team.

· Manage and own complex projects having enterprise wide impact.
· Conducts pre-project planning, project handoffs and ensures design delivery and verification.
· Develop functional specifications, project schedules and milestones.
· Work with stakeholders to identify resources needed, assemble project teams, and assign responsibilities.
· Assess costs, benefits and risks, plus Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues rapidly and effectively through effective action and appropriate escalation.
· Balance business needs with technical and security constraints.
· Clearly communicate goals, responsibilities, issues and status to team members and stakeholders.
· Drive effective teamwork, collaboration and commitment across multiple disparate local and remote groups with competing priorities.

Success in this role will require a majority of the skills listed:
· Excellent project management skills with an attention to detail.
· Ability to interrupt architectural drawings and have a rudimentary knowledge of construction.

· Liaison between the stakeholders, IT, and Engineering teams.
· Support development of best practices and initiatives, coordinating with design, construction management, network implementation, and operations.
· Coordinate change management between multiple teams to meet a deadline.
· Assure rapid responses to high priority builds and break-fixes.
· Assist with developing project budgets and providing cost estimates.
· Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues rapidly and effectively through effective action and appropriate escalation.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years’ experience managing large, cross-functional projects, rudimentary understand of construction projects
  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast paced environment
  • Proven ability to operate in high pressure situations and successfully handle multiple competing priorities while displaying a high degree of flexibility and professionalism
  • Strong self-starter who can navigate through amorphous environments and work independently when required
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and quantitative problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex technology projects from requirements definition through delivery of solution, including communication of status and results throughout the organization
  • Practical knowledge and skill in the use of project management methodologies and tools such as Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Excel, Word, Visio, Wiki, Workfront and others relevant to project planning and issue management
  • Ability to effectively influence, negotiate, and communicate with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors to get things done, with a track record of taking ownership and driving results
  • Work with multiple teams across different geographies and cultures, with flexibility for some travel and working within global time zones when required
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure technologies and software development practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree
  • PMI, Scrum or Agile Certification
  • Solid understanding of enterprise solutions including hardware, networking and and architecture
  • Experience managing IT Infrastructure projects such as co-location, network deployment, production operations
  • Familiarity with information security, relational databases and cloud computing
  • Experience mentoring and developing junior team members
  • Experience driving cross functional strategic initiatives
  • Excellent organization, analytical, quantitative, and presentation skills
  • Strong bias for action and "get it done" attitude
  • Detail oriented, yet able to look at a wide array of choices and identify what truly matters
