Job Description

Amazon’s World-Wide Sustainability Team is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead the technical program reinventing how we use technology at Amazon speed and scale to ensure the safe handling and delivery of all product lines and products. As the world’s most customer-centric company, with customers including consumers, sellers, manufactures, regulatory agencies, and shippers world-wide, Amazon has the combination of opportunity, passion, and resources to build the next generation of industry-leading solutions using a wide range of data-driven and intelligent technological and business capabilities.

You will be working with multiple software development teams and their managers developing new real-time data collection, analysis, classification, and auditing workflows integrated with internal and external sources of product safety-related data from all of Amazon’s customers. You and these teams will partner on a variety of cross-cutting programs, such as our Dangerous Goods, Food Safety, Import Compliance, Social Responsibility, Environmental Sustainability, and Business Development programs, building extensible systems supporting a variety of control processes and authoritative data sources. These will be used to ensure the best end-to-end safety experience for all involved in the life cycles of the products Amazon sources, ships, or sells. Your team will be innovating with the latest Amazon technologies for data collection and analysis, and will be using the scale of Amazon’s catalog and supply and fulfillment systems to drive new innovations.

As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will be responsible for scoping and delivering large projects end-to-end. Responsibilities include collection of business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, writing specifications, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing the production launch. You will lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts between internal teams and outside merchants and vendors to develop optimal solutions. You will be expected to make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams.

The right candidate will possess a strong program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects, and will have a well-rounded technical background in current web technologies. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or multiple competing priorities. This means you are not only able to build and enhance current software structures and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. As a Senior TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent, and leadership are essential to success in this role.

Each and every person buying, selling, or handling Amazon products will be your customer.

If you’d like to make a real-world difference by working hard, having fun, and making history, this is the team for you!
