The Kindle Store Team is seeking an exceptional Software Development Manager (SDM) for a challenging, high-value, International expansion program. This team supports rapid realization of innovative, digital shopping concepts and leveraging them into new languages and new marketplaces. This role will give you an opportunity to work with many different teams and learn a range of new systems, leveraging the deep collection of technologies throughout the company and extending them to allow us to boldly go where no digital shopping system has gone before.
The Kindle Store SDM will lead high-impact Kindle Store releases that improve reading for millions of new and existing Kindle customers. The SDM role requires excellent leadership skills, strong technical expertise, as well as leading and mentoring software engineers. You will have the opportunity to impact customers worldwide by working with development teams across the Kindle team globally and you will be leading the technical architecture and design for your team. The Kindle Store SDM will be responsible for improving the discoverability, personalization, purchase, and reading experience of content that is delivered to Kindle devices, iPhones, iPads, and Android devices as well as ensuring a great web experience across all browser platforms.
Managers interested in this position should have hands-on experience in building dependable, straightforward systems that stand up to massive scale. We take agility and rapid iteration seriously. Our work involves customer-facing UI as well as large-scale data analysis, and the design and implementation of production-scale back-end systems. The team also owns internal tools to enable engineering and product teams to quickly conduct content targeting and experimentation. We are looking for a talented software development manager with strong technical background and people management experiences to manage and develop a highly talented and experienced engineer team.

•Be a champion of engineering and operational excellence: establish team metrics for measurement of engineering and operational excellence and a consistent, regular process for assessment and improvement.
