Job Description

As a member of Amazon's WW Contribution Profit team, you'll play a key role in the evolution of our Profitability computations to solve the world's most complex technical challenges in large-scale computing, distributed systems, algorithms and data mining - to name a few. The Contribution Profit systems are responsible for automatically computing and publishing profitability for each of the millions of items shipped every day by Amazon worldwide, leveraging 100s of sources and financial events from around the company. This data is critical to run Amazon’s business and is leveraged by large scale systems such as Pricing and all Amazon business and finance employees to make business decisions.

We are looking for a sharp, experienced software development engineer who will help design & develop the next generation systems, services and tools for Contribution Profit. The engineer will play a pivotal role in the expansion of Contribution Profit software, with the mission to build and execute streamlined, automated processes for computing, validating and publishing Profitability data, as well as the internal workflows and interfaces that our business teams use to manage them. Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Equivalent experience to a Bachelor's degree based on 3 years of work experience for every 1 year of education
  • 2+ years professional experience in software development
  • Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design
  • Computer Science fundamentals in data structures
  • Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
  • Proficiency in, at least, one modern programming language such as C, C++, C#, Java, or Perl

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Familiarity with statistical models and data mining algorithms
  • Experience with high throughput, 24x7 systems
  • Innovation and initiative to improve coding standards, test coverage, quality and automation
  • Scala and Apache Spark experience
  • Experience taking a leading role in designing and building best-in-class user interfaces that have been successfully delivered to and adopted by customers
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
