Job Description

Alexa is the name of the Amazon cloud-based voice service that powers Echo devices, the pioneering Amazon AI designed around your voice. Our vision is to build a computer in the cloud that is completely controlled by your voice. That vision can only be achieved if we are able to maintain an excellent customer experience as new features are developed by Amazon teams and external developers.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, creative, and visionary leader to join our team to build and manage cross-organizational initiatives that are defining Alexa’s evolving customer experiences. In this high profile role, you will collaborate with numerous product, design, user research, development, voice technology experts and other internal and executive teams to identify, define, and implement solutions to raise the bar on the Alexa customer experience, measured by an out-sized impact on customers' interest in and engagement with Alexa. Success requires understanding and navigating a rapidly evolving product, technology, and feature set and synthesizing complex technical capabilities into a cohesive and visionary product narrative. In this role, you will be on point to deliver an ongoing program defining the North Star for Alexa’s customer experience and then translating that narrative into actionable and discrete roadmap items. Your work will include building a culture of exceptional customer obsession, creating mechanisms to highlight opportunities to improve launched or proposed CX, and educating teams and individuals throughout the Alexa organization, from individual contributors to executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading the strategy and execution of a number of strategically important cross-organizational initiatives to ensure we are raising the bar on the Alexa customer experience across all teams building voice-driven features
  • Working with internal experts to develop documents articulating the aspirational vision for the Alexa service
  • Working with leaders across Alexa and Amazon to secure buy-in for the North Star vision
  • Defining specific priorities and key requirements for important strategic initiatives and ensuring successful execution through superior product and project management skills
  • Managing auditing and reporting mechanisms that serve as a feedback-loop for these initiatives
  • Communicating with senior management on project status, strategy, risks, and issues
  • Recruiting, hiring and managing a small team of Principal PM-Ts

Basic Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability of working in complex environments to drive business process change
  • Experience developing operational processes and process improvements
  • Experience delivering programmatic goals and leading complex projects
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver both strategic and tactical results from inception to completion
  • Excellent planning and execution skills. Meticulous and methodical, detail oriented with experience diving deep and asking the right questions
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with a business related discipline
  • 8 + years of professional experience with 4+ years managing programs or products in a customer facing role
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on tight deadlines
  • Experience delivering consumer software products and services in a high growth environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or Master’s degree
  • Experience with voice-based products and technology
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior executives and evangelizing to stakeholders
  • Passion for creating innovative solutions for consumers
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations and drive actions
  • High attention to detail including precise and effective customer communications and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
