Job Description

The Amazon Digital Devices and Services team is seeking an innovative, results-oriented, customer-centric team player and leader to help negotiate and execute technology partnerships in Mobile, IoT, and High Technology Industries.

As Principal, Business Development, you will work closely with Amazon’s senior leadership and product development teams to secure and develop strategic partnerships with major technology brands. In this critical role, you will help to further develop products and services for Amazon. You will be required to lead a high performance team, handle multiple high-priority projects simultaneously and effectively negotiate terms that benefit Amazon and our customers. The ideal candidate has solid business judgment with a proven track record of successful negotiations and relationship management in an international setting. Specific responsibilities include the following:
  • Lead a high performance team to identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships that drive competitive advantage and customer delight, and support the strategic objectives of Amazon on a global basis.
  • Evaluate the economic and strategic costs and benefits of partnerships and work with appropriate product leaders and across all functional areas of Amazon to execute on the relationships.
  • Recruit and mentor other business development and partner management professionals.
  • 10-50% travel required.

Basic Qualifications

  • 12-15 years of post-degree business development experience in the mobile, IoT, and/or high-tech industries in both high impact individual contributor and team leadership roles.
  • Bachelor's degree required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience identifying and executing successful large-scale, high impact partnership deals (technology, hardware, software, services, marketing…etc.)
  • Experience structuring and negotiating complex agreements
  • Experience executing deals with international scope in Mobile, IoT, and/or high-tech industries with major brands
  • Experience with detailed business models and data analysis
  • Experience leading business development, sales, or similar teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; Resourceful in achieving success in the face of ambiguity while prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills along with a proven ability to influence others internally and externally
  • Sound business judgment and strong analytical thinking
  • Tenacity and sense of urgency; the ability make things happen quickly with large, less nimble partners
  • Committed to learning and expanding professional and technical knowledge
  • MBA preferred
