Job Description

Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) has an opportunity to drive improvements in Amazon’s fulfillment network by identifying more efficient methods of Middle Mile transportation in terms of planning and execution. The ATS Planning and Optimization team sits in the center of this exciting and vital area of work.

The ATS group is responsible for developing and implementing initiatives in delivering packages to Amazon’s customers as fast and efficiently as possible. We are looking for people to focus on the customer experience and build the next generation system.
We are looking for talented software engineers to design, build and implement these new systems. You will work on challenging problems at scale and will have autonomy to deliver results. You will learn about real-time adaptive transportation solutions, routing algorithms and optimizations, operating on large scale datasets, and more.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development building production software systems
  • Experience using Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
  • Knowledge of C, C++, Java, Ruby, Python
  • Knowledge of the Linux kernel and Linux TCP/IP stack




Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field, or 4+ years relevant work experience
  • Experience in taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
  • Development experience in creating graphical designs, user interfaces and network maps
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor other software developers to maintain architectural vision and software quality
