Job Description

The Hardlines business group is one of Amazon's four core retail businesses, along with Consumables, Softlines, and Media. Hardlines comprises 14 product categories encompassing Consumer Electronics, the largest retail business. Consumer Electronics is comprised of 8 categories - Home Entertainment, Musical Instruments/Audio and Accessories, Private Label, Camera, Office Products, Wireless, and IT/PC - where each category has its own vendor, marketing, instock, category merchant, and product management teams.

Consumer Electronics is looking for a talented, driven and experienced Sr. Vendor Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for selection expansion including identifying potential brand and product business opportunities, building direct relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts, terms & conditions, managing vendor setup and new item setup processes, working with suppliers to build comprehensive selection, setting prices, developing collaborative marketing and promotions, driving sales and margin improvements. The candidate should have experience analyzing new business opportunities, building strong relationships, driving significant top and bottom line results, and be comfortable managing multiple responsibilities within a fast-paced environment. They will work with vendors of all sizes – and must have the leadership presence and communication skills to represent Amazon at all levels of these organizations. The candidate must also possess strong analytical acumen and be comfortable drawing metric-based conclusions by managing an extensive amount of data. The right candidate stays on top of industry and competitive trends, and is able to execute at both a tactical and strategic level to drive selection, sales, and margin growth. In addition, the Sr. Vendor Manager must be an effective leader and communicator in working with Amazon internal groups such as in-stock management, site merchandising, marketing, PR, finance, operations, and retail systems.

The ideal candidate has strong business judgment with a track record of successful negotiations and overall relationship management. Proven analytical thinking, project management skills, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational skills are musts. The Sr. Vendor Manager is an effective leader and communicator and a seasoned problem-solver.

This role provides a key opportunity for those looking to build or round-out general management skillsets. It is highly cross-functional and needs influencing abilities while collaborating within and outside Amazon.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business or related field
- 5+ years of experience in inventory planning, operations, retail, consulting and/or finance, with a history of owning/driving results
- Highly analytical, capable of turning raw data into information and insights
- Proven track record of managing and executing large projects from start to finish, including project management, data gathering and modeling, problem solving, and communicating recommendations
- Exceptional attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
- Must possess excellent business judgment, strong written and oral communication skills, and a practical, common sense approach to getting things done
- The right candidate thrives in a high energy environment where tactical and strategic activities are expected to be driven in parallel process

Preferred Qualifications

- MBA with a quantitative focus, or advanced degrees in Operations Management, Mathematics/Engineering
- Strong numerical and analytical aptitude, and high proficiency creating and managing advanced models
- Strong proficiency in analytical tools including Microsoft Excel, SQL and statistical software
- Experience with improvement techniques such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
