Job Description

AWS seeks a Director, Department of Defense (DoD) Strategic Business Development, who will build and lead a team of Business Development professionals focused on developing and executing comprehensive engagement strategies to drive and accelerate AWS adoption throughout the Department of Defense and relevant Defense Agencies.
This executive will lead a team of Subject Matter Experts in DoD acquisition, IT policy and the DoD warfighting mission. The DoD Strategic BD Director will report to the DoD General Manager and will work collaboratively and transparently with the AWS Worldwide Public Sector leadership and account leads to ensure alignment between core business priorities, business development goals, and “go to market” strategies. The DoD Strategic BD Director will be responsible for scaling the business and providing instant mission, IT, and acquisition/procurement credibility in the Department of Defense. More specifically, this leader will:
  • Assist in defining and executing a go to market strategy for the DoD and related agencies;
  • Lead strategic consulting efforts, outreach programs, partner programs and key initiatives in concert with AWS business objectives;
  • Facilitate high-level meetings between AWS executives and key stakeholders, including DoD strategic leadership, mission owners, and Military Department leadership; and
  • Work with AWS Legal and Security and Compliance leadership to ensure effective coordination in support of AWS business/policy objectives in the DOD sector.

Basic Qualifications

BA/BS in Computer Science, business or related field
MBA a plus

The Director in this role will have served as a senior military officer or government civilian in the DoD with expertise in IT policy, acquisition, and will possess a deep understanding of how innovation impacts the DoD's mission.

He/she should also be a self-starter demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business development, product and technical challenges with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions and work cross-organizationally to build consensus.
