Amazon Game Studios is looking for a fantastic Technical Animator who will work closely with multiple disciplines to help develop character and animation pipelines. As the ideal candidate, you should be able to collaborate with the animation team to design efficient and effective rigs and be able to anticipate potential production problems and be proactive. You’ll be working within a multidisciplinary team of designers, artists, and developers and will be providing input on tools, technical direction, and character designs. You will also need to be able to balance the game’s quality goals and against the constraints of performance and memory budget.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Art Director, animators and programmers to assess and develop efficient animation pipelines
  • Implement scripts and custom tools to help the character modelling and animation teams
  • Design and create efficient character rigs for the project animators to utilize
  • Supervise and run the skinning process for character models

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of technical animation experience
  • At least 1 shipped title
  • Proven experience in a professional game production pipeline
  • Scripting and plug-in writing skills with the leading 3D applications e.g. Maya, 3DSMax, XSI etc, plus Perl or Python
  • In depth experience and skills relating to modeling, character rigging, and animation with an advanced knowledge of what makes the resultant assets efficient
  • Able to be a hands-on animator and can create high quality animations
  • Must have the ability to take constructive criticism and maintain a professional attitude
  • Independently self-motivated, team player with excellent communication skills
  • An online portfolio with samples of your work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Has shipped multiple titles
  • Traditional art skills (drawing, painting, sculpting)
  • In depth experience and skills relating to lighting and particle systems
  • Some 3D modeling experience
