The Amazon Marketplace Seller Recruitment and Development team is seeking a Senior Strategic Business Development Leader. The Consumables (Health and Personal Care, Grocery, Beauty and Baby) is one of the fastest growing categories on one of the world’s largest online marketplaces.
Amazon Marketplace is over 40% of the total Amazon.com sales and growing. Each year, tens of thousands of businesses join the marketplace adding millions of new products. Amazon has created an array of business solutions for sellers to leverage on the journey such as Amazon Payments, e-Commerce Web Hosting, and Product Advertising with new tools and programs being invented every year.
Amazon is looking for a highly entrepreneurial for a Strategic Business Development Leader to build comprehensive relationships with strategic brands, driving the initial engagements, value pitch, partnership, negotiations and onboarding plan. He/she will be driven and passionate in bringing Vertical and Holdouts Brand to Amazon Marketplace to delight our customers while building a successful partnership between Amazon and the Brand. He/she will have a proven track record in driving long cycle negotiations and overcoming blockers by understanding the business needs of our partner brands and their long term strategies with ultimate goal of delivering competitive prices and complete catalogs to our customers.
The Strategic Business Development Leader will partner with cross-functional teams to create a data-driven Vertical Brand Growth strategy in the Marketplace Consumables team. He/she will assess new strategic opportunities, analyze trends and identify opportunities to improve strategic selection and further drive the “Everything Store.”
The successful candidate will own establishing inroads and relationships with C-level leaders at the strategic targets while creating and presenting pitch decks demonstrating the power of Amazon Prime and its suite of tools for brand success. The Strategic Business Development Leader will also serve as a key customer and category advocate, serving on cross-functional teams tasked with driving initiatives and process change to continually improve the customer and seller experience.
He/she should be self-motivated and highly entrepreneurial, with a passion for translating Consumables trends into impactful business opportunities. He/she should have demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of an organization, coupled with a broad track record of successful high-level negotiations. The Strategic Business Development Leader will have outstanding attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task in focusing on activities that have the greatest impact. The successful candidate will also be an effective leader and communicator, whose intellectually curiosity drives new ideas, innovation and process improvement.

- Identify, qualify, acquire and grow seller commitment to the Selling on Amazon program.
- Understand Seller needs, defining clear project plans and executing to high expectations in a rapidly changing environment.
- Remain flexible to changing priorities, open to new ideas and have the Seller success firmly as the focus.
- Identify and analyze data and anecdotal input from Sellers and support associates to identify and isolate issues, test solutions and prioritize competing program opportunities.
- Analyze customer data and make recommendations in order to maximize the potential of assigned sellers. Execute successfully on the plan recommended.
-Implement and track metrics for recording the success and quality of the sellers in your territory. -Use these metrics to guide your work and uncover hidden areas of opportunity.
-Manage complex contract negotiations and serve as a liaison to the legal team.
-Prospect and close business to achieve quarterly quota targets for both the quantity and quality of sellers recruited.
-Meet or exceed quarterly revenue targets and operational metrics.
-Engage with brands to understand their needs and gauge the fit of the Amazon Services product suite.
-Create and articulate compelling value propositions around the Selling on Amazon product.
-Assist internal partners to drive change, remove roadblocks and close businesses.
