Job Description

The Amazon Payment Products business needs a senior software engineering leader who will design, lead the development process and launch new payment methods across Amazon’s global portfolio. The qualified candidate will own the technical strategy and manage the platform direction for the Payment Acceptance team. This will involve working with internal teams (Amazon business leadership, product management, engineering) as well as third party financial institutions worldwide.

This position involves regular communication with senior management on status, risks and the strategy underpinning the technical solutions being deployed. Excellent communication skills and strong technical competency are essential to being successful in this capacity.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in design, development, test, and deployment of scalable web services. A successful candidate will have an established background in developing customer-facing experiences, a strong technical ability, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
  • 10+ years of industry experience
  • 6+ years of people management experience, leading technical professionals (Team size 50+, including software developers, development managers, and/or technical program managers)
  • Minimum 3+ years of managing Software Development Managers
  • Software development experience in an object-oriented programming language.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with distributed systems and service oriented architecture (SOA)
  • Experience with Java or C++ and web services
  • A deep understanding of software development in a team, and a track record of shipping software on time
  • Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions
