    Amazon Web Services - Software Development Engineer on Storage Gateway team - Boston, MA.

    Be part of the rapid growth of Amazon Web Services (AWS)! As of February 1st, we have launched 62 new features and services in 2017! This role will work on the Storage Gateway team and with Snowball and the new Snowball Edge platform!

AWS has been continually expanding its services to support virtually any cloud workload, and it now has more than 90 services that range from compute, storage, networking, database, analytics, application services, deployment, management, developer, mobile, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), security, hybrid and enterprise applications.

    This position is a Cambridge position on the fast growing AWS Storage Gateway team https://aws.amazon.com/storagegateway/. Our service enables customers to securely leverage the AWS cloud for a range of backup, archival, disaster recovery and file sharing use cases. We support industry-standard storage protocols and provide low-latency performance by maintaining data on customers' on-premises storage hardware while seamlessly synchronizing data with AWS cloud storage, where it is encrypted and securely stored in the Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) or Amazon Glacier. We are also a service on the new Snowball Edge!

    Basic Qualifications

    • BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
    • 3+ years professional experience in commercial or web-scale system software development and delivery
    • Proven object-oriented design and implementation skills (Java, and/or C++), preferably on Linux
    • Deep understanding of scalable computing systems, software architecture, data structures and algorithms
    • Proficient in network, distributed, asynchronous and concurrent programming
    • Experience designing, building and delivering high quality software on time
    • Solid verbal and written communication skills
    • Possess strong analytical skills, with excellent problem solving abilities
    • Passion for technical leadership and mentoring

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers within a fast paced environment
    • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices.
    • Experience with large scale distributed systems
    • Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast paced environment
    • Technical leadership experience.
