Job Description

We are looking for Oracle DBA experts, looking to expand their skills beyond Oracle. Our team is rapidly deploying/supporting/engineering Redshift , Hadoop, Big Data and No SQL solutions.

Position can be located in Seattle, Phoenix or Detroit. (Domestic relocation possible)

The Amazon Marketplace Database team has a need for an experienced Oracle/RedShift Database Administrator for its Seattle or Phoenix office to design, develop and manage the solutions that serve and support Marketplace’s data persistence technology needs.

We are looking for Oracle experts, looking to expand their skills beyond Oracle. Our team is rapidly deploying/supporting/engineering Redshift , Hadoop, Big Data and No SQL solutions.

This job involves design reviews for new and existing applications, identify and architect the right database solutions like Oracle, Redshift , Hadoop, Big Data or No SQL based cloud computing and storage technologies, executing projects to deliver high quality deliverables on time, defining development processes for continuous improvement, driving the technology direction and leading the database engineering team effectively.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of Oracle DBA experience on Unix/Linux
• Working knowledge of one of scripting languages (Python, Ruby, Perl)
• Experience with Oracle 11 Unix/Linux
• Experience in data guard, data replication, application scalability and high-availability architecture
• Working knowledge of DBA best practices (e.g., schema management, index optimization, OS-level tuning, Network management, etc.)
• Query and database tuning skills
• Experience in a 24X7 production environment
• Capacity monitoring and management capabilities
• Experience with terabyte databases
• Experience with high-volume OLTP database systems
• UNIX shell scripting, PL/SQL, and SQL skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• On-call support

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience with AWS persistence offerings (DynamoDB, Redshift, EC2, S3, etc.)
• Experience with NOSQL solutions
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities
• Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with DBA and application teams
• Experience with MySQL a plus
