Job Description

Gift card is the brand ambassador for Amazon and we bring new customers to the company. As a Software Development Engineer, you will have the opportunity to conceptualize, design, develop and own new software systems, which will bring a unique Gift Card shopping experience to our most strategic customer segments. We're looking to you for solving the hardest problems unique to our industry and creating new features that the industry has not seen before. We're looking for people who are entrepreneurial and like to wear many hats and work in a highly collaborative environment that mirrors more of a startup than a big company. You will work in an agile environment in which your code reaches a large number of customers in a matter of hours. Last but not the least, you will work closely with some of the brightest set of people to solve highly complex challenges.

As a member of the Amazon Gift Card team, you will invent new features, develop distributed services, and build a highly scalable and maintainable solutions. We are a fast-paced environment and encourage innovation and expect developers to take a high level of ownership throughout the software life cycle.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in computer science or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of software development experience
  • Possess deep knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as object oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
  • Demonstrated the ability to take a project from scoping requirements through to actual launch of project
  • Demonstrated the ability to develop business-critical software using modern programming language such as C, C++, C# or Java.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS or PhD is computer science or equivalent preferred
  • Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
