Job Description

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Payments team seeks a leader who will propose strategy, design the customer experience, build the appropriate teams, lead the development process and launch new payment experiences across AWS’s global regions. The qualified candidate will own the business strategy and technical implementation for this rapidly growing organization. This is a leader of leader’s position that will be responsible for software development managers, technical program managers and product managers. Additionally you will coordinate directly with customers and third party financial institutions worldwide. Finally, you will interact with a wide variety of internal teams including executive leadership, legal, accounting, tax, compliance, security and sales. This position requires a visionary leader who wants to work as a business owner of a complex and growing portfolio of payments options.

This position involves regular communication with executive management for proposing strategy, funding new initiatives. You will also be responsible for managing the development of technical designs and implementations. Strong vision, excellent communication skills, the ability to organize complex projects and strong technical competency are essential to being successful in this capacity.

A successful candidate will have an established vision in proposing and developing customer-facing experiences in the payments space with a global perspective.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
  • 10+ years of industry experience
  • 6+ years of people management experience, leading technical professionals (Team size 40+, including software developers, development managers, and/or technical program managers)
  • Minimum 3+ years of managing Software Development Managers
  • Software development experience in an object-oriented programming language.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills



Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with distributed systems and service oriented architecture (SOA)
  • Experience with Java or C++ and web services
  • Experience delivering localized experiences
  • A deep understanding of software development in a team, and a track record of shipping software
  • Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions
