Job Description

The Amazon Devices team designs and engineers customer-obsessed consumer electronics, including the best-selling Kindle, Kindle Fire Tablets, Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Dash, and Amazon Echo. What will you help us create?

The Role:

As a key part of the camera team, you will be driving the electrical design of the camera module and the necessary supporting hardware. You will be the owner of all aspects of EE hardware design, including circuit/board design and validation. You will work closely with an internal interdisciplinary team, and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, execution, and test. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.

You will play a key role in developing and defining Amazon's imaging platform and roadmap.

The candidate will be responsible for the schematics and layout design of the camera module and supporting hardware. The candidate will lead DFM processes with the contract manufactures and drive any technical related issues which includes Low and High Level Failure Analysis.
The candidate needs to be a strong and effective communicator and needs to be an independent and highly motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills.

Basic Qualifications


  • BSc of EE or CS, MSc preferred
  • 7+ years of work experience with EE Design and Consumer Product design
  • Experience with mixed signal board level design including design for Impedance control
  • Experience with different types of Ceramic, RFPC, FPC and Substrates material and stack-up design
  • Advance Cadence Allegro user
  • Experience developing robust designs for ESD/EMI immunities and RF de-sensitization
  • Experience leading and driving design development from schematic capture, PCB layout through assembly
  • Experience using equipment such as Logic Analyzer, O-Scope, I2C Reader and Impedance Tester
  • Experience with major platform SoCs.
  • Experience and hands-on practice in camera module or product design and manufacturing
  • Experience with design and implementation knowledge of FOL processes such as wafer cleaning, die attach, housing attach, flip chip, as well as clean room operations
  • Experience in design and implementation knowledge of imaging control algorithms such as AE/AWB/AF/face tracking
  • Experience with streaming devices and digital still cameras is a big plus
  • Experience with FW implementation of imaging system/devices
  • Experience with various sensor and bus interfaces: MIPI, CCP2, USB, I2C, SPI.
  • Experience with control and integration of VCM, shutter, flash   
  • Experience with Image science, optics knowledge and Photoshop is an added bonus
  • Experience with programming skills including Matlab, Python and C++


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with other related consumer imaging devices
  • Experience with high definition video
  • Experiences in webcam, DSC, camera modules, camcorders, FlipVideo
  • Failure Analysis experience
  • Good documentation and communication skills
  • Must be able to produce imaging functional specification and realistic schedule
