Job Description

We're looking for an entrepreneurial product leader who will help define, build, and deliver new video and mobile ad products and monetization strategies. You'll be responsible for the product roadmap, market and competitive research, product testing, managing the go-to-market strategy, monitoring customer adoption and feedback, defining and analyzing performance metrics, and achieving cross-functional product alignment with other Amazon groups. This is a leadership position that requires a high bias for action and a willingness to dive deep. The role also requires an ability to imagine great new customer and advertiser experiences while getting your hands dirty trying out new ideas and continually refining the products. We need a highly collaborative team player, but also one-person wrecking crew.

What you will work on:
We are inventing new and engaging media & ad experiences for customers. Our group is particularly focused on content-rich and video-forward formats optimized for mobile devices. You will work with a team of talented and experienced engineers and designers to help bring new products to market and ensure that both groups of core customers (Amazon shoppers and advertisers) are delighted by what we create. In addition to working with engineering and design teams, you will also have to earn trust and cultivate relationships across other groups within Amazon, including sales and marketing, search, retail, vendor and seller management, mobile shopping, finance, and many others. You will work cross-functionally to manage bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints, and maximize business benefit while building great customer experiences. Balancing the need to be entrepreneurial and scrappy within a new product group while also operating in a larger organization is critical to success.

Specific skills we are looking for:
  • Ability to get a lot done in a startup environment with lots of ambiguity but also lots of opportunity
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do whatever is necessary – a general manager / owner mentality and an entrepreneurial drive
  • Ability to have fun and inspire team members to enjoy work, be action-oriented and stretch their imagination
  • Ability to earn trust across different levels and multiple groups of a large organization
  • Fluency in working with technology and digital media
  • Exceptional ability to analyze and interpret large amounts of data in order to make recommendations for improvement
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, solve problems, scope technical requirements and prioritize project work
  • Sound business judgment, proven ability to influence others, and strong analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to think strategically and act tactically

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology discipline, data science or related field preferred
  • 6+ years of Product Management experience in online, advertising, or e-commerce
  • Experience in cross-functional roles and a proven track record of delivering successful products to market
  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills, ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases
  • Demonstrated ability to dive deep in understanding the product, our business, and the competitive landscape

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced quantitative/technical degree
  • A history of product management in a startup environment
  • Experience in managing customer facing applications for both web and mobile
  • Experience with customer development and validating products through customer feedback
  • A deep understanding of software development in a team, and a proven track record of shipping software quickly then iterating on the experience
  • Online display advertising industry experience
