Job Description

We are a centralized Machine Learning team in Retail, parter with a number of Retail teams to develop strategic solutions and platforms to drive for innovations to improve the way customers search, browse, discover products at Amazon.

Seeking DEEP LEARNING experts to innovate the shopping Experience at Amazon. You must be passionate about creating algorithms and models that can scale to hundreds of millions of customers, and insanely curious about building new technology and unlocking its potential. You will partner with technology and business leaders to build new state-of-the-art algorithms, models and services that surprise and delight our customers. As part of the new centralized machine learning team in Retail, you will use ML techniques such as deep learning to create and put into production models that deliver personalized shopping recommendations.

Major responsibilities
· Work closely with the business to understand the problem space, identify the opportunities and formulate the problems
· Use machine learning, data mining, statistical techniques and others to create actionable, meaningful, and scalable solutions for the business problems
· Analyze and extract relevant information from large amounts of Amazon’s historical business data to help automate and optimize key processes
· Design, develop and evaluate highly innovative models for predictive learning
· Interact with software engineering teams to build data platforms for large-scale data analysis and modeling
· Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation and model implementation
· Research and implement novel machine learning and statistical approaches

Basic Qualifications

· MS (PhD preferred) in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or in another highly quantitative field
· 1+ years of hands-on experience in deep learning, predictive modeling and analysis
· Ability to distill problem definitions, models and constraints from informal business requirements, and to deal with ambiguity and competing objectives
· Skills with Java, C++ (or other high-level programming language) as well as Python (or similar scripting language)
· Experience in using R, MATLAB or other statistical software
· Communication and data presentation skills
· A natural curiosity and desire to learn

Preferred Qualifications

· PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or in another highly quantitative field
. Experience in deep learning
· Experience handling gigabyte and terabyte size datasets
· Experience in developing solutions for real-world applications
· Knowledge of relational databases (SQL)
· Experience working with distributed systems
· Strong communication and data presentation skills
