Job Description

Amazon Web Services is looking for a manager to join the Amazon Route 53 team in Vancouver, Canada. Route 53 is the underlying availability layer for a significant portion of the Internet and Amazon itself. As a manager on the team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of enterprise naming and routing features: from distilling customer requirements to architecture and design to implementation and operations.

On the Route 53 team, you will have to make tough prioritization decisions, iterate and innovate relentlessly, and think through globally distributed systems problems. You will have to think about how to provide advanced functionality while scaling the system for exponential growth. Our team relentlessly focuses on the security, performance, availability and scalability of our Internet-scale services. We build and operate systems that are critical in powering the platforms that Amazon's global retail, AWS and Kindle businesses run upon, not to mention the millions of customers around the world that rely on AWS.

You should be a strong leader who is technically deep, can communicate clearly, and has the ability to build a strong team that deliver results. The Amazon Web Services business requires creative engineering and a strong customer focus, and you will work with your team and senior leadership to develop and launch high quality services.

Basic Qualifications

  • Computer Science Bachelor's Degree or at least 5 years equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in any of Java, Python, Ruby, C/C++
  • Comfortable working with Linux or other Unix operating systems
  • Bring a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Be a strong leader, mentor, recruiter, and people manager
  • Experience building and operating highly available services
