The Role:

As a Senior Embedded System Architect, the candidate will define system architecture for a range of embedded, small form-factor consumer electronics devices, including vendor and chipset selection for IoT platforms. The candidate will translate business requirements for embedded devices into use cases and tangible technical specifications. The candidate will work closely with internal cross-functional teams including product managers, system architects, software architects, hardware and software design engineers, test engineers and engineering management. The candidate must be able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment. In this role, you will:

  • Design world class hardware
  • Interact with cross functional engineering teams across the company
  • Dive into and take ownership for critical design issues
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Address all aspects of technology readiness, including manufacturability
  • Help build robust methodology and processes to deliver technology to products

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field with 5+ years (or BS with 10+ years) of experience in system design of embedded systems, especially in low-cost, small form factors
  • Experience with embedded radio technologies, including WiFi, BT and BLE.
  • Experience designing with ARM MCUs
  • Experience with key roadmaps of IoT chipset vendors
  • 2- 5 years of experience in developing and delivering embedded device in consumer electronics space
  • Experience with technical document writing using Visio, Word, Excel, and / or PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD degree with 3+ years of experience in embedded system design
  • Experience designing systems with 802.15.4 standard (Zigbee, Thread, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience developing FW for embedded/IoT devices
  • Experience in dealing with wireless coexistence issues in multi-radio systems
  • Familiarity with embedded software development and debugging: GNU/Linux device drivers, firmware, IDE (ex: Eclipse, Visual Studio)
  • 2- 5 years of DFx (Design for cost, test, manufacturing) expertise
  • 2- 5 years of schematic capture with tool sets such as OrCAD; overseeing and reviewing PCB layout in Allegro or equivalent
  • Experience working as a Technical Lead
  • Experience with operating hardware lab equipment such as digital oscilloscope, signal analyzer, network analyzer, call boxes and soldering
  • Revision control and document control
