Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Research Scientist to help build Amazon’s Social Advertising Platform that will power large scale advertising programs on multiple Social Media platforms. In this role, you will lead the development of closed loop optimization driven solutions for automated ad personalization, content optimization, ad bidding, and attribution. You will work with massive customer behavioral datasets and ad performance data, and leverage your machine learning, statistical modelling and analytics experience to scale and optimize advertising programs. The scope of your work will span across an organization of 65+ employees and will have global impact for Amazon. As a part of our org, you will have a chance to have a ground-up impact on our systems, our business and most importantly, our customers, through your data science expertise. You will drive partnerships with technical teams and business stakeholders across Amazon. An ideal candidate will be innovative, flexible, have strong leadership skills and will love to work collaboratively with cross-functional business and software development teams to solve critical business problems.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Statistics, Engineering, Math, Economics, Computer Science, or other technical field from an accredited university.
  • 6+ years of experience in statistical modeling and/or machine learning.
  • Experience with tools and technologies enabling self-sufficiency in data analysis and modeling: R, python, Hive, Pig, SQL, or other scripting languages.
  • Strong track record in converting data analysis into tangible and significant real-world changes.
  • Demonstrated experience incubating new technology while working closely with research scientists, software developers, and technical professionals from product conception to implementation.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills to convey complicated processes and systems to business partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD degree in Statistics, Engineering, Math, Economics or Computer Science.
  • Experienced working in a fast-paced, high-tech environment (preferably software development) and comfortable navigating conflicting priorities and ambiguous problems.
