Job Description

AmazonFresh is Amazon.com’s grocery delivery service, now in Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Customers order fresh produce, locally-sourced meat and seafood, products from iconic local merchants, and other goods; select the time slot of their choice for delivery; and find our trucks at their homes when the time arrives. You say you want a bunch of bananas, a dozen bagels from your local bakery, lox, and a coffee maker delivered to your doorstep between 8AM and 9AM tomorrow? We say no problem.

As a member of the QA team you will be responsible for leading the testing and launch of core product features. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define these product features, drive the system architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product.

Software QA Engineers test code at the user level, both manually and with automated tools. Our Software QA Engineers use black box, gray box, and white box testing techniques; they are able to understand software internals, debug problems using log files, and write automated tests with Perl/JavaScript and/or user-level test automation tools. Software QA Engineers work with Software Development Engineers to understand features and technical implementation. Software QA Engineers also work with groups such as Product Management, User Experience Design, and Customer Support to understand customer usage models and develop test plans and test suites that approximate real-world environments and regression tests. Software QA Engineers are also responsible for driving the software development process toward quality-centric methodologies.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience as part of a test team
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience
  • Knowledge of QA methodology and tools
  • Experience writing automated tests in either a scripting language or OO language

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to adapt to new challenges and overcome hurdles
  • Experience with XP or Scrum a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of working effectively with Development Engineering and other functions
  • Experience writing automated tests with Perl/Python/JavaScript
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or relevant technical discipline
