Amazon's E-commerce Platform services are highly available, mission critical services, handling a very large number of transactions and having a direct impact on the customer experience. Amazon's E commerce Operational Excellence team which is centralized operations team, that owns production support of some of the core software platforms within Amazon, is expanding into Austin, Texas and is in the process of building a technology team which will be responsible for Availability, Performance, Scalability, of the Platform Services, operating in ‘Follow The Sun’ Model to manage 24x7 operations from India (Hyderabad), Seattle, WA and Austin, TX Locations.

Key Responsibilities:
Support engineers troubleshoot, debug, evaluate and resolve computer-identified alarms, perform software deployments and migrations, host management and automate routine operational tasks. The position requires a combination of strong troubleshooting, technical and communication skills and includes a mix of the on-call and operational tasks and may involve execution of small-project and software development work. The Support team operates in ‘24X7' using Follow the Sun model in co-ordination with team in India. Support Engineers also develop tools and automation to automate repetitive operational tasks. They use the right tool for the job, and modify software in a way that leverages the overall system architecture to ensure availability and reduce operational load. Support Engineers are responsible for driving efficiency in the process, software to reduce the cost of infrastructure through deep analysis on how software, hardware, and infrastructure components work and fine-tune them for best productivity. They look for opportunities to do more with less, and incubate new ideas/tools/processes to drive efficiency across various teams/technologies. Basic Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• BS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering or related disciplines
• 4 to 8 years of experience in Application/Product, Production Support
• Able to write complex scripts and automation (using any one of the Shell, Ruby, Perl, Python).
• Proven track record of service improvement and optimization in production
• Exposure in handling customers, program managers for planning and executing operational programs.
• Strong debugging/troubleshooting skills
• Exposure to processes improvement techniques, Operational Excellence is definitely added advantage
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills
• Strong understanding of support processes – handling tickets, monitoring, processes and metrics
• Ability to solve complex problems independently.
• Familiarity with Load Balancers, Network Components and Infrastructure components is a value add

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualification:
• Hands on experience distributed applications/enterprise applications is plus.
• Exposure to performance tuning, systems engineering, Software Optimizations, JVM tuning etc. will be a plus.
• Hands on experience in Cloud technology is plus.
• Expert in using scripting and programming language for automatons.
• Experience in design and development of software is a value add.
