Job Description

Amazon’s Self Service Performance Advertising team has an immediate opening for a Senior Business Analyst.

Amazon is one of the world’s most highly trafficked sites and the delivery of relevant advertising to shopping customers is a key company strategy and rapidly growing source of revenue. Our advertising platform provides self-service, low-latency ad serving for performance-based advertising program with large ad inventories, a unique problem space within the Amazon advertising ecosystem. The platform supports both automated and advertiser-specified targeting and is optimized for managing product data as a source of ad content. We are breaking fresh ground, pioneering a crucial platform for future Amazon growth, and our businesses are among the fastest growing at Amazon. Our team of software developers, statisticians and product managers use rigorous quantitative approaches to ensure that we target the right ad to the right customer at the right moment, managing tradeoffs between click through rate and revenue per click. In order to accomplish this we leverage the wealth of Amazon’s information to build a wide range of models, set up experiments that ensure that we are thriving to reach global optimums and leverage Amazon’s technological infrastructure to display the right ads in real time.

The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer, Self Service Performance Advertising role requires a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity and able to create and maintain efficient and accurate in depth financial models for tracking business & financial metrics. Additionally, the successful candidate will be detail oriented and possess the ability to work well with cross-functional teams including world-wide Amazon retail, finance, and software development teams.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of business/financial analysis, based on large volumes of data
- 2+ years working in data management
- BS/BA in an analytical area or relevant work experience
- Advanced skills in Excel, Word, Access
- Experience using SQL to query relevant datasets
- Familiarity with relational database design
- Ability to engage with confidence across multiple levels within the company
- Proven problem-solving skills for difficult to complex issues

Preferred Qualifications

- 8+ years of experience as Business Analyst, Financial Analyst, Data Scientist or related field
- Master’s degree or higher
- Expert proficiency in data visualization software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- An analytical mindset
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative and fast paced team environment
- Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and with strong attention to detail
