Job Description

Amazon Web Services is looking for experienced engineering leaders to help us define and build the future of computing. The AWS Elastic Block Store (EBS) service delivers high performance virtualized EC2 storage "in the cloud" with customers ranging from startups to well-known enterprises. As a member of the EBS team you'll join other outstanding product and engineering leaders to work hard, have fun, and lead the future of cloud storage.

We are looking for a broad leader who will own and drive development and engineering excellence across major components of EBS. You will have strong ownership over creating new systems and evolving existing systems including product definition, engineering development and operations, team development, and scaling the business. You'll manage a tight, agile team that ships and you will be able to see the impact your work has on real customers. This is a senior leadership role that will interact with all levels of AWS and Amazon.com business.

You will be customer centric and enjoy working in a fast paced environment that requires strong technical and business judgment and great communication skills.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering management experience preferably with Internet-scale experience
  • 7+ years experience with building and leading diverse and highly talented teams with an emphasis on scaling them to meet the demands of a rapidly growing business
  • 7+ years of experience managing software development teams and shipping software-based products or services
  • Systematically strong analytic and quantitative analysis skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • This leader has must have demonstrated that they have succeeded in delivering high quality technology products/services in a very high growth environment where priorities shift rapidly
  • Ability to prioritize well, communicate clearly and understands how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong, talented, opinionated team
  • Experience driving a technical global product and team with end to end inbound and outbound product responsibilities
  • BS in Computer Science/Engineering/Mathematics
  • Sound business judgment, proven ability to influence others, and strong analytical thinking skills are critical to success in this position
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate data driven decisions that lead to results
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, manage, and prioritize multiple projects
