Job Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a talented, self-directed Web Development Engineer to design and build customer experiences across the AWS website for our Digital Platform Team. The AWS Digital Platform team is responsible for the delivery of targeted content to customers and prospects across the AWS website and developer consoles.

The Web Development Engineer will be a key member of this team and will create new functionalities as well as explore and implement leading edge UI technologies. This role offers wide scope, autonomy, and ownership. You’ll have a seat at the table and will be counted on to be an influential voice in decisions related to system architecture, feature development, and product strategy. We have an ambitious mission requiring an engineer with great judgment and a track record of building great customer experiences.

The ideal candidate should have deep end-to-end web application knowledge, thrive in a fast-paced environment, have experience optimizing client-side performance, and mobile development. The candidate should be willing to take on challenging initiatives, and capable of working both independently and with others as a team.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional front end, web, or mobile software developing with HTML, CSS, JavaScript Framework, and general Web 2.0 techniques.
  • Strong design skills around the user experience.
  • Eye for design and attention to detail.
  • Experience with responsive web design, media queries, resolution independent image display, and the ability to deliver outstanding functionality across devices and platforms.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Solid coding practices including peer code reviews, unit testing, and a preference for agile development.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline (or the equivalent).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building large-scale web applications.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in an engineering environment in driving operational excellence and best practices.
  • Experience with Adobe Target, Adobe CQ, or Ad serving platforms.
  • AWS product experience and development on the AWS platform.
