Love Manga or Comics? Interested in creating a great customer experience for Amazon’s digital Manga and Comics business? Amazon Kindle is building a seamless, best in class experience for discovering, purchasing and reading digital Manga and Comics across all Kindle surfaces (web, Android, iOS, eReaders). We’re seeking a passionate Software Development Engineer for our Seattle office to collaborate with engineers, product managers, and experience designers across Amazon to create an elegant, customer centered solution for the Manga

Basic Qualifications

Who You Are and What You Do:
  • BS degree in Engineering, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering
  • 5 years experience or MS degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Strong CS fundamentals and OOP and OOD experience
  • Experience in test driven software development (Unit testing)
  • Experience with Java or other object oriented language such as C#, C++
  • Proficiency using modern web development technologies including HTML5, CSS, Javascript, typescript, JSON, responsive web design, web services
  • Customer focus and data driven thinking
  • Strong sense of ownership
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software
  • Clear, professional communication skills able to contribute to team discussions, knowing when to contribute, when to listen, and when to ask questions
Functional:
  • Communicate with users, technical teams and management to collect requirements
  • Scope and design requirements
  • Design software solutions
  • Develop features, applications and systems
  • Perform code reviews, source control management; build processes, testing, and operations

Preferred Qualifications

Would Be Great:
  • Experience developing AJAX interfaces with AJAX libraries and frameworks (eg: DOJO, JQuery, etc)
  • Knowledge of web frameworks like Spring, Tomcat, and ASP.NET
  • Knowledge of web performance principles and how browsers load pages efficiently a huge plus
  • REST/RPC API design and development
