Job Description

The Amazon Kindle team is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Senior Software Development Engineer for Kindle Content Versioning team. In this position, you will work on building innovative text/image processing algorithms and developing highly scalable services and workflows to automate revision control of eBooks.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about building innovative, exceptional quality, and scalable software to create a great experience for our Kindle customers. Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years engineering experience required in OO design and coding skills in Java or C++
  • Experienced technical leader driving architecture and implementation
  • Experience in translating requirements into technical design specifications and documentation, as well as executing development projects from conception to delivery
  • Familiarity with various software technologies, methodologies and applied software engineering practices/standards such as OOD, Java/J2EE, Tomcat, Struts, Spring and AJAX

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong OO design and coding skills in Java or C++
  • Rich, hands-on experience developing with HTML, XML, CSS, Javascript, Oracle and Linux/Unix
  • Experience developing and supporting large-scale software systems
  • Self-directed and capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment
  • Experience in translating requirements into technical design specifications and documentation, as well as executing development projects from conception to delivery
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
