Job Description

Have you been looking to build on your expert data skills by gaining a solid understanding of the core Amazon.com business? This key role embedded within a large and rapidly-growing Retail business team will make that happen.

The Core Consumables Finance team is looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer. This position will be a critical partner for the business teams supporting all of our Core Consumables Product Lines. In this role, you’ll design, execute and iterate on business intelligence reporting for a very large team. If you love working with huge data sets and delivering the insights you discover through business intelligence reporting and automated systems, then this is the job for you.

Key Responsibilities
- Collect, analyze and share data to help business teams drive improvement in our key business metrics, customer experience and business results
- Propose and prioritize changes to reporting and create additional metrics and processes based on program changes and customer requirements
- Work closely with the Core Consumables Finance team to create ad-hoc reports to support timely business decisions and project work
- Identify and implement new capabilities and best practices to develop and improve automated data analysis processes
- Learn and understand a growing range of Amazon data resources and know how, when, and which to use

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, BI Engineer, Business/Financial Analyst or Systems Analyst preferably in an internet-based company with large, complex data sources
- Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance or any related field from an accredited institution -Self-taught technical candidates also encouraged to apply
- Advanced SQL writing skills and solid experience with ETL
- Redshift experience

Preferred Qualifications

- Expert understanding of best practices to handle extremely large volume of data
- Ability to create extensible and scalable data schema that lay the foundation for downstream analysis
- Experience in designing and implementing custom reporting systems for business teams
- A clear passion for learning new BI skills and techniques independently and continuously
- Ability to prioritize multiple concurrent projects while still delivering timely and accurate results
- Experience working in a lean, successful start-up or on a new product team where continuous innovation is desired and ambiguity is the norm
- Experience mentoring others in SQL, modeling, forecasting and the use of large datasets
- Proficiency with the following languages/tools (Unix command line, R, Python)
- Experience with the following is a plus: OBIEE, Looker, Tableau, Cognos, Microstrategy
