Job Description

We are looking for an attorney to support Amazon’s fast-growing Marketplace and Seller Services businesses. Responsibilities will include supporting both new and mature technology-driven business offerings in regulated retail industries, counseling product development teams on a wide range of commercial matters, working with other members of the legal department and all levels of the business to ensure that regulatory requirements and risks are broadly understood and managed, and structuring, drafting and negotiating related strategic agreements.

Principal duties will include providing ongoing legal counseling and thought leadership to senior business leaders, product managers, analysts, technologists, and brand relations specialists across a wide range of topical areas, including intellectual property, product sourcing and distribution, and regulatory compliance. You must also be able to act as an exceptional representative of Amazon to external stakeholders. Some travel, domestic and international, will be required.

Amazon is constantly innovating on behalf of our customers and working with manufacturers, brands, content owners, vendors, and sellers to improve the ways we detect and prevent inauthentic products from reaching our marketplaces. We are looking for someone with strong business and legal judgment who can think big while sweating the details to support crucial innovations.

Basic Qualifications

• 5-10 years of legal experience (with at least two years at a law firm)
• Experience researching, analyzing and synthesizing state or federal regulations
• Juris Doctor and membership in good standing in at least one state bar

Preferred Qualifications

• Mix of corporate law firm and in-house experience
• Experience counseling clients on regulatory requirements and risks associated with new businesses
• Experience advising clients on intellectual property matters
• Experience working with product development teams
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations
• Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
• Ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills
• Common sense, great judgment and a good sense of humor
• Self-starter with strong bias for action and keen attention to detail
