The Data Center Global Services team is looking for an exceptional individual to join our Controls & Technology organization as Controls Engineer. The engineer’s primary responsibility is to drive large scale global initiatives within AWS enterprise data centers.
The ideal candidate will need a wide-ranging background in IT infrastructure and data center facilities infrastructure specifically as applies to environmental controls and electrical power monitoring.

Expect to travel globally where and when needed to manage and/or support initiatives of the teams you will support.

Role Responsibilities and Requirements
o Knowledge of building operations, control diagrams, industrial HVAC, electrical diagrams, and complex environmental and electrical concepts.
  • Identify, track, and manage imitative resources.
o Innovation of new solutions to support initiative, team, and company goals.
o Interface with programmers, MEP engineers, and managers as necessary to accomplish initiative goals.
  • Create, maintain, and disseminate project information to appropriate stake holders.
  • Identify, assess, track and mitigate issues and risks at multiple levels.
o Interaction with AWS cloud services and other applications in order to present and archive the accumulated data.
  • Facilitate effective team communication and collaboration across multiple groups.
  • Anticipate road blocks and provide escalation management.

Basic Qualifications

o B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related engineering degrees as well as five (5) years of related experience in professional Environments.
  • At least 4 years’ experience driving medium to large scale enterprise data center engineering, installation and upgrade projects.
  • Exhibit ability to acquire hard data across technical organizations, assemble and maintain hard data metrics to communicate, project and evaluate outcomes.
  • A track record of successful BMS troubleshooting and resolutions.
o Strong customer focus.
o Must be able to contribute to a 7 day on-call rotation that is distributed among other team members
o Demonstrated leadership in IT technology and MEP focused environments to deliver the right results.
o Exhibits successful judgment and demonstrates motivation in building technology.
o Has relentlessly high standards (is never satisfied with the status quo).
o Excellent communication skills that are persuasive and not political.
o Is able to dive deep and is never out of touch with the details of the business or the technology.
o Strive for innovation and simplification.
  • Fundamental understanding of Data Center IT Infrastructure
  • Vendor/contractor management


Preferred Qualifications

o M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related engineering degrees as well as five (5) years of related experience in professional Environments. Exhibit ability to acquire hard data across technical organizations, assemble and maintain hard data metrics to communicate, project and evaluate outcomes.
  • Project management, organization and problem solving skills with a drive for results and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
o Experience in developing operational optimization plans based on data analysis.
o Experience with the use and programming of software in building management systems (Schneider, Siemens, Tridium, Trend preferred).
o Experience with the use and programming of electrical power monitoring systems (Schneider, Eaton preferred).
o Knowledge of Data Center Facilities Infrastructure and operation (PDU, UPS, Generators, etc…)
o Willing to travel globally.
o Must be able to operate with little to no supervision and still deliver the right results.
o Drive for results in Project management, organization and problem solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure
o Skilled in written and verbal communication.
o Must possess ability to build peer relationships as well as work independently.
o Proficiency in computer applications such as SQL, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
o PMI or other project management experience and certifications.
