The Search Customer Experience team is responsible for the customer-facing features, information, and look & feel of search results on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices globally. We are in the Search Organization where we launch new products and innovation on a daily basis. Our team leverages sophisticated machine learning, data mining, and big data technologies to help customers discover the right products. We run usability studies and obsessively read customer feedback to improve our search experience. We partner with Amazon’s category teams, from instant video, Kindle books, and Echo, to apparel, electronics, and groceries. We partner with the teams that power search relevance, query understanding, browse, and product recommendations (“Recommended for You”.)
As the Sr. Manager of Smart Search Features, you’ll own the multi-year product innovation strategy for Search features and UI that utilizes data signals to determine relevance. You’ll be part of the Product leadership team, which owns an ambitious mission to revolutionize the Search customer experience. You will lead a centralized team of Product Managers who deliver these complex, cutting-edge customer-facing features. Using customer research, user behavior data, and machine learning, you’ll work hands-on with your team to discover, quantify, and solve global customer problems. Your team will influence and collaborate on experiments with the research, design, and the development teams responsible for Search’s algorithms, software, and UI. You are responsible for hiring, developing, and career coaching technical product managers. Entrepreneurial spirit, strategic thinking, creativity, judgment, and negotiation skills are essential in our fast-paced environment. Product managers on our team have driven ideas that have impacted millions of customers. On a day-to-day basis, you'll be part of a close-knit team that is agile, data-driven, and highly collaborative. Outside of work, we have weekly team social events and we regularly get out of the office (rain or shine) to clear our heads and have some fun as a team.
Specific Duties include:
· Be an advocate for customers and work backwards from their needs.
· Lead and mentor technical product managers (PM-Ts); participate in recruiting.
· Influence senior leaders across Amazon and communicate Search’s vision, strategy, goals, status, and customer impact.
· Manage the product innovation roadmap from inception through implementation and iteration; establish success metrics and drive execution.
· Understand and explain complex technical issues, discern impact, and communicate them to business partners to drive resolution.
· Follow customer and technology trends and Think Big about innovation.
